GRADES COOPERATIVE

Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, & send them forth in freedom

educating confident young learners to champion the sustainability of the world & our local community

FolkSoul Farm currently offers a 4 day per week Outdoor Experiential Learning Waldorf-based Grades Program on our working organic farm. Our grades program currently serves grades 1 and 2, with a new grade being added yearly.

The FolkSoul Farm Grades Program integrates outdoor education through daily wilderness and farm experiences with the culturally-rich Waldorf daily rhythm. FolkSoul Farm grades students learn a blended curriculum of waldorf education combined with outdoor, experiential learning activities, such as gardening, cooking, animal care, sustainable living projects, time in nature and stewardship activities in the daily and seasonal life of the farm. Children follow the cycle of the seasons spending the warm months almost entirely outdoors then nesting in our classroom space in the the deep of winter. Handwork, movement, songs, plant and animal care, farm to table meals, and woodworking are woven into the fabric of the educational experiences and documented in addition to the traditional Main Lesson Book.

Using an integrated thematic approach while emphasizing each child’s relationship to the natural world, we seek to empower our grade school students to use critical and creative thinking while promoting a respect for the environment and humankind. All curriculum stems from our desire to inspire our students’ thirst to know more, equipping them with appropriate and relevant knowledge, and nurturing their passion to influence change in the way we are managing this planet.

The FolkSoul grades program meets Monday through Thursday from 8:45am to 3:15pm. Family participation in the FolkSoul Farm grades program includes seasonal festivals, parent teacher conferences, camping trips, Family Farm Friday work parties and crafting sessions.
